Weather
Los Cabos has most pleasant year-round temperature with only minor fluctuation. From November to May, the average temperature ranges from the mid 70's to the upper 80's and we are constantly fanned by cooling trade winds.
The rainy seasons cover most of July through September but don't let that scare you away: the rains last a very short time and are known to greatly enhance the colors of the hills and already marvelous sunsets.

You may be misled regarding the intensity of the sun on your skin because of the cool breezes from the sea. Always keep this in mind and use a good sun screen - a severe sunburn can ruin an otherwise wonderful vacation.

Passports and Customs
When traveling abroad all passengers must pass through customs and immigration. As of January 1, 2007, passports will be required for travel to Mexico. You can inquire at your local post office on how to obtain one.

Once through immigration all travelers will pick up their luggage and proceed to customs. The procedure there is quick and simple. Passengers push a button, referred to as the "traffic light". If the light is green, they get through, if the light is red, their luggage will be inspected. As Los Cabos is in another country, you must always remember the implications that exist when bringing in goods. Please, consult with the nearest Mexican Consulate if you have any doubt about items you would like to take with you while vacationing in Cabo.

Money Exchange
Los Cabos has all the major Mexican national banks. For convenience there are many locations that have ATM machines. These machines accept US bank cards in the same manner they do in the U.S. or Canada.
|
|
|
|
The exchange rate will be applied to the day of the transaction, and you will receive pesos (the currency in Mexico). Though banks are open from Monday to Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., currency exchange is possible only until 11:00 a.m. It is advisable to do your exchange operations during the bank's business hours.
It is recommended that you carry small bills with you, as it is often difficult to change larger ones in the little tiendas and stands. Credit cards are accepted in all major restaurants. There is a 7% bank commission for paying with credit card. It is best to keep your money in dollars, exchanging as needed. The Baja California Peninsula has a 10% federal tax.

Things to Know - A few other minor things to keep in mind:
Drinking water — the water in Los Cabos is safe for bathing but not for drinking. Cabo San Lucas Country Club has its own water purification system that runs through all the taps.
Bottled water is readily available at all grocery stores and food serving establishments.
Communications — international communication outside of Mexico is easier then ever, but it may be costly. It is less expensive to call collect or use a calling card. The area is compatible for cellular phone usage as well.
The only effective courier service is DHL, which is fast and reliable.
Medical Services — While it is hoped that you will never need those services, the hotels maintain on-call physicians on a 24 hour basis. Bilingual hospital services and dental care are also available. To provide our members with more peace of mind while traveling, The Resort has entered into an agreement with a medical service company called AmeriMed. This company provides discounts to our members on various medical services. AmeriMed also takes a wide variety of US Medical Insurance.
